"La partie 6 de l'OAIS (qu'est-ce que c'est ?) intitulée "Archives Interoperability" n'est pas la plus connue du modèle. Pourtant elle n'est pas inintéressante. [...]"

"La version en cours de relecture (jusqu'au 15 juin !) pour la révision quinquennale de l'OAIS ajoute une chose importante, la possibilité de partager un répertoire de formats. Mais le paragraphe ajouté me semble flou au possible.

J'aurais aimé que la partie 6.2 développe les contraintes de management des archives partagées, et pas seulement des archives fédérées. Mais je crois que j'ai loupé le coche, il va falloir attendre la prochaine révision, dans 5 ans :-("

Une nouvelle section a été lancée le 1er décembre sur le dépôt arXiv: q-fin (Quantitative Finance).

"In the past decade, an increasing number of researchers from mathematics and physical sciences have been contributing together with their peers from economics and social sciences to the rapidly growing field of quantitative finance. This field, whose creation was marked by such important breakthroughs as the Modern Portfolio Theory of Markowitz, Capital Asset Pricing Model of Sharpe, Lintner, Mossin and Treynor, and Option Pricing Theory of Black, Scholes and Merton, has always relied on the power of mathematical tools and methods to discover and describe the mechanisms behind the workings of financial markets. This reliance has continued to grow with the complexity of the problems considered, and has led to many fruitful examples of cross-pollination of the ideas between the fields. The rapid growth of the financial industry has brought together many researchers with diverse scientific backgrounds who now work in banks, investment management, insurance and other companies which rely on innovation for the growth of their business. Accès libre, archives ouvertes et États-nations : les stratégies du possible (déposé sur ArchiveSIC, 07/05/08)

Pratiquement depuis ses origines en 2002, le mouvement en faveur de l’accès libre s’est défini autour de deux stratégies : la publication dans des revues en accès libre et l’archivage des articles dans des dépôts en accès libre obéissant au protocole OAI-PMH. Depuis, ces deux tendances fonctionnent en parallèle, sans grands recoupements entre elles, si ce n’est une certaine résistance aux revues en accès libre de la part de certaines personnes qui soutiennent l’archivage des articles. Par ailleurs, la question de la relation des dépôts institutionnels avec les dépôts disciplinaires ou thématiques n’a jamais beaucoup progressé, les discussions se limitant souvent à démontrer la supériorité d’un modèle sur l’autre. Cette fragmentation du mouvement en faveur de l’accès libre ne joue pas en sa faveur. Pour autant, ces formes plus ou moins larvées de division ne sont pas nécessaires et encore moins une fatalité. Le texte qui suit cherche à montrer comment les deux grands courants de l’accès libre peuvent aisément s’articuler l’un à l’autre ; il montre également comment les « archives » ou dépôts thématiques peuvent s’adosser fonctionnellement aux « archives » ou dépôts institutionnels.

Une des faiblesses du "mouvement" de l'OA (et des AO) réside à mon sens (mais je peux me tromper, d'ailleurs je me trompe certainement) dans la dispersion des efforts et des initiatives. Comprenez-moi bien, je ne suis pas contre la tenue, même hebdomadaire, d'une conférence ou d'un colloque sur la question, ou contre l'instauration de tel ou tel projet, mais à un moment donné, il faut être capable de réunir les forces en présence et de proposer un programme, une vision sous une même bannière. Européenne, par exemple. A tout hasard. Mais je rêve là, ce n'est pas dans la nature humaine...

Toujours est-il que l'ABD (qui fête ses 60 ans) et la KBR organise le lundi 19 novembre à Bruxelles un colloque intitulé "L'Europe face au défi de la conservation des documents numériques à long terme" (dont une séance est consacrée aux AO - et à HAL).
