ERMS: une présentation, deux articles
- Preparing to Implement an Electronic Resource Management System (pdf)
(source: une présentation de Susan Davis, responsable des périodiques électroniques à l'université de Buffalo, E.-U.)
Plan:
- Introduction
- Background
- Assumptions
- Needs Assessment
- Sources of Data
- Structure of Records
- License Mapping for ERM Systems: Existing Practices and Initiatives for Support
(source: Serials Review, vol. 34, n° 2, sur abonnement)
In the process of analyzing and/or mapping license agreements into their electronic resource management (ERM) systems or in developing services to support the license mapping process, library professionals were interviewed to provide a status report of license mapping in academic libraries. Areas discussed include existing practices, challenges, and support for and benefits of the mapping process. These conversations from the trenches should help professionals in the early stages of ERM implementation better conceptualize resource needs and effective practices for license mapping.
- Helping You Buy Electronic Resource Management Systems
(source: Computers in Libraries, vol. 28, n° 7, 2008 / sur abonnement)
Does your library subscribe to a long list of electronic journals (aka ejournals)? Do you find it evermore difTicult to keep track of the ejournals for which your users have access? Do you need help in allocating the budgets involved with econtent? Does your library's staff feel overwhelmed by all the work related to managing and providing access to thousands of ejournals? If your library faces these questions, then it might be time to consider acquiring an electronic resource management system (ERMS).

[livre] Electronic Resource Management in Libraries: Research and Practice
Holly Yu, Scott Breivold (éd.), Electronic Resource Management in Libraries: Research and Practice, California State University, Los Angeles (E.-U.), 2008, 416 p. (ISBN: 978-1-59904-891-8)
A pronounced move from print subscriptions to electronic resources in all types of libraries has fundamentally impacted the library and its users. With the influx of resources such as e-journals; e-books; index, abstract, and/or full-text databases; aggregated databases; and others, the shift to electronic resources is rapidly changing library operational and organizational procedures.
Electronic Resource Management in Libraries: Research and Practice provides comprehensive coverage of the issues, methods, theories, and challenges connected with the provision of electronic resources in libraries, with emphasis on strategic planning, operational guidelines, and practices. This book primarily focuses on management practices of the life-cycle of commercially acquired electronic resources from selection and ordering to cataloging, Web presentation, user support, usage evaluation, and more.

This book chapter provides a summary of available electronic resource management systems (ERMS) as of Fall 2006. It also discusses considerations beyond the basic requirements. This chapter was intended to appear in the book "Ejournals and Library Technical Services" but, due to delays in the publication of this book, a revised version of the chaper will appear instead.

Périodiques électroniques et services MARC: résultats d'une enquête
MARC Record Services: A Comparative Study of Library Practices and Perceptions (Rebecca Kemp) (pdf)
The number of journal titles available in digital format to libraries through aggregators and publisher packages has increased, but library resources to catalog these titles have not kept pace with the increases. More libraries are therefore turning to MARC record service vendors to provide batches of electronic serials bibliographic records, either full or brief. This study presents the results of a survey asking library personnel about their experiences with and attitudes toward MARC record services. While many survey participants expressed satisfaction with the services, they also responded that they would like a greater number of more accurate full bibliographic records. Also, while a majority of libraries use a separate records approach with the services, a significant minority use a single record approach.
"This is a preprint of an article that has been accepted for publication in The Serials Librarian © 2008 Taylor & Francis. The article will appear in The Serials Librarian v.55, no.3 (2008) with different textual formatting. A URL for this article in Informaworld is not yet available, as of 3/28/2008."
